Economic Policy Manager, Leeds

The Company:

We are responsible for distributing gas to homes and businesses across the north of England, an area covering West, East & North Yorkshire, the North East and northern Cumbria. Our network of 36,000km of gas pipes is worth £1.5bn.

The role:

Working within a small team you will report to the Regulation Director and will be responsible for:
  • Developing effective strategies to improve the company's comparative performance;
  • Helping to develop the organisation's regulatory policy;
  • Building, maintaining and developing econometric models;
  • Forging key stakeholder relationships, liaising closely with external bodies including OFGEM;
  • Playing a key part in the organisation's pricing review, which is critical to the revenue of the company; and
  • Liaising closely with other internal departments, including senior management and the CEO.

The Candidate:

A candidate applying for this position should:
  • Be an excellent communicator and able to liaise, influence and negotiate at all levels;
  • Be detail conscious, professional and flexible;
  • Hold a degree in Economics or an MBA;
  • Have econometric/financial modelling experience and/or experience in statistical analysis;
  • Have experience or knowledge of corporate finance principles; and
  • Experience within a utility regulatory environment would be an advantage but not essential.
